Talent show students!
Dear parents and students,
congratulations again for making the 2013 Banks Road Elementary Talent Show!
In the letter that I sent home with info about the talent show auditions there were the rehearsal dates. All students that are participating in the talent show need to be at every rehearsal for the talent show. These rehearsals are so that we can have smooth transitions between acts and we know exactly what to do. This will also be an opportunity for the students to make sure their act is the way they want it and to practice performing in front of others. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email.

Music in our schools!
March has been officially designated by
NAfME: The National Association for Music Education for the observance of Music
In Our Schools Month (MIOSM), the time of year when music education becomes the
focus of schools across the nation. MIOSM began as a single statewide
celebration in 1973, and has grown over the decades to encompass a day, then a
week, and then in 1985 to become a month long celebration of school music.
The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of
the importance of music education for all children and to remind citizens that
school is where all children should have access to music.
MIOSM is an opportunity for music teachers to
bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community and
to display the benefits school music brings to students of all ages.
The
World's Largest Concert (WLC) has been the highlight of Music In Our Schools
Month (MIOSM) since 1985. A sing-along concert linking students around the
world through music, the WLC reached an estimated 6 million students, teachers,
and music supporters in recent years.

Talent show!
Banks Road Elementary Talent
Show
It’s time for our talent
show to be held at Banks Road Elementary on Thursday May 30 at 6:30 PM.
Students are invited to dust
off their tutus, tune up their instruments, or warm up their voices for any act
under TWO minutes. To participate
please complete a participation form, sign up on the sign up sheet, and return
your permission slip to Ms. Loftin on your audition date.
If you are not interested in
performing, we hope you will attend the show!
Stay tuned for more information!
Students participating MUST
include their music with their forms.
Music shall be on a CD, clearly labeled with the title, track number,
and performer’s name(s). Your CD must be
performance ready. Any necessary editing
must be complete. For questions
regarding the music, please email Ms. Loftin at lloftin@wcpss.net.
There will be two sign up
sheets outside the music room. One is for March 21 and the other is March 26.
Please sign up by Wednesday March 20, 2013.
Please bring your forms and
music on your audition date.
The two audition dates for
the Talent show are Thursday March 21 and Tuesday March 26 from 4:15 to 5:15.
If you make the talent show,
your name will be posted outside of the music room.

Show PERMISSION SLIP:
1. All acts must adhere to TWO minute time limit.
2. All CD’s need to be submitted by Monday March
20th together with your permission slip and volunteer form. All music needs to be performance ready and
labeled.
3. Only Music, Lyrics, Dress, and Acts
appropriate for elementary-age audiences will be permitted.
4. All students must follow district behavior
guidelines to participate in this school related Activity.
5. Full Dress Rehearsal is mandatory.
6. As a Parent/Guardian, I accept full
responsibility for my child’s behavior. Any acts consisting of more than three students,
must have two parents present during the rehearsal and performance. Each child must have a separate permission
slip and volunteer form.
