It is true!!!! The shirts are IN!!! Wear your dark jeans, and white shirt(track 1) I will bring shirts for you to wear tomorrow. Everyone should wear their Banks Road Boomers shirts with jeans tomorrow to school and the performance. I will see everyone at 4:45 Crabtree Valley Mall, upstairs across from Sears!

Track 2 and 4 big chill!!!

Reminder that Tracks 2 and 4 have their "Big Chill" performance Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 pm!!! The students need to be at school no later than 6:00 pm!!!! Students should wear dark jeans, winter attire (hats, scarfs, gloves), and a PLAIN colored shirt. Students need to have their costumes for the daytime performance as well. The students have been working very hard and cannot wait to show off all of their hard work! I look forward to seeing all the 4th and 5th track 2 and 4 students at the performance Wednesday night!

Crabtree!!!

Reminder to the chorus that we have our holiday performance at Crabtree this THURSDAY at 5:00!!! We need to meet upstairs at 4:45. We are meeting upstairs across from Sears; wear your white shirt, jeans, and a holiday hat!! We are singing the holiday songs that we have been working on. (Our shirts should be getting in tomorrow. Reminder that track 2 and 4 have their winter performance on December 19 at 6:30. Students need to be here at 6:00 pm. Wear dark jeans, plain shirt, winter gloves, hates, and scarves. A letter will be sent home this week along with a reminder phone call. The students are going to do a wonderful job!

Pieces of Gold

Banks Road Boomers did an AMAZING job today at Pieces of Gold. No matter what the result of our audition, be very proud of what you did today! We will know the audition results on Friday!
I am so proud of each student in the chorus! The students are such a joy to be around and work so hard! I could not be more proud!

We will be auditioning at Sandrson High school!!! Please wear a white short and jeans tomorrow. We are leaving Banks Road at 3:00 and will meet at SANDERSON HIGH at 3:45 near the auditorium!

Reminder that we have Pieces of Gold on Wed!!!! Leave Banks Road at 3:00, meet at Daniels Middle at 3:45 (Front Entrance), wear Chorus shirt( I will bring the ones for track 1!) and jeans, wear a smile and bring your great attitude because I know we are going to rock!!! Banks Road Boomers!!!!!!

Banks Road Boomers,

Congratulations! We had an amazing performance on Thursday night! We need to get ready for our BIG Pieces of Gold audition on December 5^th at 4:50 pm, Daniels Middle School. WOOOOHOOO!! I know that track one is tracked out and you may chooise to meet us at Daniels Middle School at 3:45 to be ready to warm up or join the Boomer's caravan here at school.  We will be leaving Banks Road Elementary at 3:00 pm on December 5^th to arrive at Daniels Middle School by 3:45.

 

We will be wearing our Banks Road Boomers shirt that will be coming in on November 28^th.  Thank you to all of you who have already submitted your t-shirt order monies.  For those of you who have not yet paid, please send in your $10.00 shirt fee as soon as possible.  We will distribute the t-shirts to students as soon as they arrive.  

 

If you do not have a way to get to the middle school, please email me at lloftin@wcpss.net. I have had many parents volunteer to help with car pooling. We will be meeting at the front of the school before leaving. We will be returning by 6:30 pm. Please be sure to make arrangements to carpool/have a ride to Daniels Middle School.   This is the audition we have been working very hard to prepare for. All of the Banks Road Boomers need to be at this audition if possible. Remember, we are an ensemble and perform as an ensemble. When students are not at performances, we are not a complete ensemble. Every student in this wonderful ensemble is a vital part of the group. We want to make sure we can perform to the best of our ability.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! BANKS BOOMERS!

CONGRATULATIONS to the BANKS ROAD BOOMERS!!!! The Chorus did an AMAZING job last night at Barnes and Noble in Cary. We have two more performances coming up VERY soon. We will be auditioning for Pieces of Gold on December 5th at 4:50 PM, Daniels Middle School in Raleigh. We have also been invited to sing at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh on December 13 at 5:00 PM. We are ordering T-shirts this week and will get to wear them on our two upcoming performances!! I am sending home a letter on Monday with the chorus, it will have a lot of information for all of the upcoming performances!! Remember! We will need parents to help with travel to the Pieces of Gold audition!

Pieces of Gold Audition for Chorus!!!!!!!!

Chorus!
I received our audition time and place for Pieces of Gold this weekend. We will be performing at    4:50 pm on Wednesday 12/5 @ Daniels Middle - Oberlin Road in Raleigh.  I know it is soon after school is out. We do not have all the say in when we perform. Remember to carpool. I will be sending home more information this week as I get it. We will be ordering our chorus shirts this week and should have them sometime next week. Everyone has been working so hard this year in chorus. I am very proud of each and every member of the group!

Thanksgiving in music class!

This week in music we are discussing Thanksgiving. One of the songs that we are learning is "Five Fat Turkeys." This song is a silly song that the students love to sing. We are learning how to sing with proper singing voices, singing as an ensemble, keeping a steady beat, and dramatizing music. In many of the lessons I teach, the students will dramatize the music they sing and play. Dramatizing is important for children in self expression.

Important reminders

Remember that our Barnes and Noble performance is coming up next THURSDAY 11/15/12!!! I am very excited about the chorus performing. The students need to remember to wear their Banks Road shirt with jeans. The students need to make sure they are at Barnes and Noble at Cary Crossroads no later than 6:40 for our 7:00 performance.

We are getting prepared for our Pieces of Gold audition on December 5th. Time is TBA

Please send in your money for shirts!  ($10) I sent home a letter about shirts Sept 25th and still need more people to turn in money. We are a great ensemble and we should look like a unified ensemble.

Dear Parents and students in the chorus,

We are getting ready for two different performances! The first one is November 15 at Barnes and Noble at the Cary Towne Center. The students need to be at Barnes and Noble no later than 6:40 pm to perform and 7:00. The students are doing a great job and expect to see all tracks out at Barnes and Noble for their performance. Our next performance we are getting ready for, is the Pieces of Gold performance.  The audition will either be on December 4 or December 5 at Daniels Middle School in Raleigh. We will receive the exact date and time in a few weeks. We are auditioning to perform in a big performance for Pieces of Gold in February 2013. I have gone over with the students many times that we need to work hard. If we do not make Pieces of Gold, we are taking it as a learning experience. Not everyone makes everything.  We will need parent help and possible transportation to the school for auditions. I need to know by November 6 if you can help with transportation and chaperoning. The students that are tracked out at that time (track1) are still expected to go to Pieces of Gold. Every student has a very important part in the performance. If they are not there, we do not have a complete ensemble.

 As the students know, we need to have full commitment to this wonderful ensemble. Please sign and print your name on the back paper stating that your child will be performing in Pieces of Gold on December 4^th or 5^th at Daniels Middle School.

I need the signed paper by NOVEMBER 1, 2012. If I do not get the signed paper by November 1 your child will not get the privilege of going to Pieces of Gold.

Banks Road Elementary Chorus,

The chorus is going so well! All of the students are working hard and singing very well. We have a lot to look forward to this year. Pieces of Gold will be in December, Barnes and Noble performance November 15, winter performance, and other performances throughout the year! With having all of these performances, we are going to be purchasing shirts for the chorus so that the students will not only perform as an ensemble but look like an ensemble. The t-shirts will be between $5 and $10.  If you would like to send in a check for $5 dollars you may make it out to Banks Road Elementary.

Just a few reminders:

You may only have ONE unexcused absence from chorus. If you have more than one you are no longer in chorus. 

Pieces of Gold is an Audition for a larger performance later this year. We will be auditioning off campus. Throughout the next couple months the students will need to work on being responsible and reliable. If we make Pieces of Gold each individual ticket will be $50 to see the performance.

November 15 – Barnes and Noble book fair will be at the Cary Crossroads Barnes and Noble. Activities start at 6. Your child is welcome to come early for the activities. I would like for all of the students to be at Barnes and Noble at 6:40 to warm up for their performance.

4th and 5th grade musical!

Dear parents and students,
We will be performing a winter musical this year with the 4th and 5th graders. Tracks 1 and 3 will be performing their winter musical Tuesday, November 27 at 6:30 PM. Tracks 2 and 4 will be performing their winter musical on Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30. The "The Big Chill" is about the students and teachers wanting a snow day! I have asked the students to use winter clothing that they have at home for their costumes.  Please start sending students in with hats, gloves, scarves, and any other winter apparel they may use as their costumes.
